I am curious why this light is not mentioned more (only 3-4 threads detailing actual info), as I would think it would have some appeal.

The switching is really cool in that you can get over double the runtime if you don't need the extra brightness. The lights appears to be the right size where it will not collect dust after the "new" factor wears off.

I have even heard people saying "W.E really has it together", or "I have dunken and dropped mine and it still performs like it was new". With things like that said, I find it hard to accept this product as an Asian "toy" vs a "real" HID.

Please list the advantages and disadvantages of such a light and why, at around $350 from PTS, it is a good deal... or... why you would better spend the money on something else...

User opinions would be even better :)

i found it to be quite poor in performance, till i re polished the reflector to a smooth mirror finish. its above there with the rest of them i reckon now;)
oh, one other thing that i found to be a PITA was that you have to twist the body or head to turn it on, and 9 times out of 10 u will adjust the focus instead by error.

Thanks for the info :)

I think the new version uses a tailcap switch vs the twist design, right?

How exactly do you polish a reflector? I always thought it was better not to mess with them

What are your thoughts regarding build quality, runtime, etc ?

hmm, i thought i had the new version, yup, tailcap switch is for operating the leds in the tail i think. i polished the reflector with emery paper 2000 and then jewellers rouge till i got a mirror finish. build quality is second to none and run time is as per the specs, not bad at all. its just the twist on/off that peeves me, the rest is pretty muck A ok.

I can't imagine a bare aluminium reflector maintaining a bright polished surface for very long, aluminium oxidises instantly.

I've had a Wolf-Eyes Shark for just over a year now and I love it. It's built like a tank and has proved reliable. I'm not a big fan of the twist-tell-you're-blue-in-the-face tailcap, but I like having the LEDs there as a low power mega runtime option. Also the light does take a while to warm up compared to other HIDs that I have, but given the versatility of 10W, 24W, or LEDs, I'm willing to put up with the wait. Also the Lithium-Ion battery has proved to hold a charge exceptionally well when not used for long periods.

How does everyone prefer the color temp? I know 6-7k is on the blue end of things, however, is it a deal-breaker?

Is heat an issue during extended runtimes?

How does this light at 24watts compare to some of the other well known 20-25 watt lights?

I think most of us prefer bulbs in the 4200-5000k range but after using 6000k lights for a while it's actually not the worst thing ever. It doesn't seem to render colors "badly" and over time I've come to the conclusion that dealing with the 6000K light has more to do with letting the brain become accustomed to it since up until a few years ago yellow beams are what we were used to. It's also closer to the average color of sunlight than the 4200K bulbs. All of my ramblings are based on the fact that the bulb is actually 6000k and not 7000k and higher, which is solidly in the cool blue of the spectrum. Perform a search on BVH's BlackHawk Locator which I think has the nicest color of any HID light...it's around 5000k+ iirc. 6000K isn't a deal breaker at all if you're looking for a conventional tube shaped flashlight under $400. That's because there just aren't any other choices with warmer bulbs.

None of my 24/25W HID's have had a heat issue even in AZ. The K3500 35W light does get fairly warm but never too hot to handle.

I think WE have a solid product and the boxer I owned was build like a tank. They won't throw as well as the AE lights due primarily to the reflector. Polishing is an option but will require periodic re-polishing and still won't have the reflective qualities of a smooth, plated reflector. For most purposes I find that 24W, OP reflectored, HID's still have plenty of throw for the majority of tasks I encounter.

Some new questions :)

* I am still confused on how this light operates... I think you have to rotate the head to focus, rotate the body to turn on the light, rotate the tailcap to use the tailcap, push the switch to jump to 24 watts or back to 10 watts. Is this close to correct?

*Are there double or single o-rings (or no o-rings...) between the tail-body, body-head, and head-head (to focus)?

*Although you all mention the light does not throw amazing, this must just mean it has a brighter or larger spill beam, right? The OP reflector will just scatter more light. It's not like not as much light is leaving the flashlight, the light is just not all being concentrated to throw.

*How long does the light take to charge?

*Although I doubt the claimed 1800 lumens (at 24 watts), would you all agree it puts out over 1000? I really wouldn't need anything brighter (If I could ever aford it as it is... :p), however, I would really want a light with over 1000 lumen output... kinda a mental thing...I used to own a 990 and I have alraedy accepted it will not be as brightm, however, a light about a foot long can be stuffed in one of my coat pockets if I need to, whereas the x990 is better suited to carry on the back :)
