What was the original price of the 12ZM? I have an opportunity to buy a display model 12ZM at a local gun store. He's asking $159... should I jump on this? No scratches or marks. With all packaging?

This thing is suppose to be a 500 lumen M4 correct? And based on my search, it accepts the current M4 bulbs.

There was an auction for a 12PM on ebay a few weeks ago:
Sale price: $257.00
It's your call...
I think that a 12ZM would be more than that.

That is a fair price, especially it is in excellent condition. I scored two of the SF 12's off of an ebay seller a couple years back for something like $100-120, both had been used, but not abused. Had them for about a year or so and sold them on BST here for more than double that.

Jay doesn't have any more but a while back SpyMall found some and were selling them for $169.00 retail. The only oldies they have left are 6Ps. They have a good glamor shot of a 12Z M if anyone is interested.

$159.00 and no scratches? I'd be all over it.

Seems like a good deal. Check to see if they have any spare N62's LA's for it too and get them as well.

Well get this... I went there and he couldn't find the box. Then when he goes to see if it works, no light. So he puts in some new batteries... still nothing. Turns out the bulb was black. Not sure what happened but he said SF will probably send him a new bulb and then he'll call me.

It's been there for almost 5 months in the display so I doubt anyone will be buying it.

Because there is no box the owner said he'd throw in a 6-pack of SF123s in addition to the 4 that he put in the light.

We'll see what happens.

I seem to remember buying mine for about $170. Excellent example of SureFire's early days.

Tempest

Its still worth obtaining I think, although I doubt he'll be able to get an N62LA even from SF. The 12ZM can still use the the M4 LA's I believe (forgot their #s) Size 15 would know for sure. So its still a viable light even w/out the N62.

Also make sure that its only the LA that went "black" and not the reflector. Sometimes when those N62's blow they take the reflector and more w/them.

The 12PM/12ZM/LeopardLight can use the MN60/MN61 but there the beam may not be perfect due to the reflector finish not being designed for the MN filaments. The specific bulb/reflector combination you have may not produce sufficient disruption of the larger fatter longer filaments.

N62's are like hen's teeth and rockinghorse poop.
