P4 in 3D Maglite - Will it fry?

Noob modder here.

I had an old Diamond Maglite drop-in (screws in to replace the incandescent bulb and collar) that, due to my failing memory, used a Cree of some kind that I don't remember. I never liked it, as the tint was blue-ish and not horribly bright, so set it on a garage shelf. The drop-in itself is aluminum, and I assume direct-driven. I was cleaning in the garage a little, found it and a few Seoul P4 USWOH that I had left over from upgrading my 2 HDS's last year (or the year before, who knows...)

I unsoldered the existing LED, and replaced it (yes, I used Arctic Silver) with the P4.

It works, and is very bright with a far more uniform hotspot and a bit more usefull spill than the origanal Diamond LED had.

I measured current before and after - 3 new Duracell D's.

Before - .26 a
After (with the P4) - .89 a

Questions - will the P4 hold up driven like this? Any guestimation of how much runtime to, say, 90% and then 50% I can expect from alkaline D's?

Thanks for your help,

John F

The P4 itself should take the current without problem, but I don't think there is enough heatsinking for extended runs.
