I have been testing about 10 P4's, Ubin, SYN color that i have sourced from various places. I recieved one that is 20% brighter when i put it in my optic but when i test the lumens in a sphere the lumen output is not higher than any other sample i have. Can anyone explain it?

As for why, it seems the only answer would be that the radiation pattern is different (different shape LED surface or sub-surface), probably more concentrated toward the front so it looks brighter but outputs less in other directions.
The eye is fooled but an IS is not.
