P7 Mod - Which heatsink and Battery to use

OK, I've just ordered this D-Bin P7 Led:

Am I right in thinking the only other thing I need to mod my mag is a heatsink? If so can anyone suggest one that will fit easily with these and keep the light nice and call?

Also, I'll need to upgrade by current alkaline D cells (3) to a new form of cell - what would be the best combination for this driver & LED and where could I buy them from? Thanks!

The heatsink from H22A is one of the good choices:

You also need a glass lens if you haven't got one. Better to use a UCL or borofloat lens. About $5-$6 each. The 52mm glass lens from KD are really cheap and they are not bad.

I've used the same KD driver on a C bin P7 running on 2 D-sized Li-ions (also from KD). It works very good that way. Using a 2 D mag host, you can also use a 6AA to 2D holder.

It's safer than 2 D Li-ions.

I've also ordered the D-bin from KD. I'll see how it performs.

If your putting this in a 3D Mag you may want to re-think what driver you use.
The driver you quoted driver requires a min of 5.5V and from what I've read gets hot over ~8.5V (2x Li-Ion). There's a thread about it here.

I'd suggest using 3x D NiMh in direct drive or with an 8xAMC7135 driver. You can even make your own multi-mode driver.

Alternatively change to a 2 C/D Mag with 2x LI-Ion.

ok, so i've changed to a 2d mag with 2 d lion, and have also bought a der wichtel driver and dimmer as the Kai one just gets toooo hot! Anyone know if it's possible to go aspheric with the P7 for throw?
