Is the Rainier a Luxeon or P4 model? I have a luxeon Rainier and it's pretty impressive for the size. It holds its own against much newer lights.

good question Snow...I'll find out. At any rate I'm sure it's going to be a favorite EDC light for me now. This one has the forward push tailcap and can also be twisted for constant on.

Nice comparison beamshots, Meltdown. I have the First Responder and really like it. Other lights are impressive for their size. Can you point me in the direction of some information on the Night Patrol please?

I was a beta tester for Peak on the First Responder and the light did very well in a duty environment. It suprised me many times and I am not really sure where Peak is now with this light. They were working on various battery configurations and bodies with some minor improvements. All in all the light puts out a massive amount of light and the side spill has to be seen in person to truly understand how nice it is.

My review link is here and may help out a little with this certain model...

Rob, Night Patrol as follows:

200+ output lumens
single mode
upgradeable LED (wooo hoooo!!)
6.5 oz
7.5 inches long
1.25 inch diameter head
shrouded forward clickie
modular construction
source: 1 18650 LiOn
runtime 120 minutes constant burn
operating cost per hour $0.02
95.00

the thing is built like a little tank....love it. will post a pic of how it fits in the hand. It's just perfect sized to be used as a yawara if needed.

Robocop, thank you for the review link, I found it most helpful.

i think they could have name the First Responder the Mad Max light. The thing will run on so many different kinds of rechargeables and alkalines that the survivalist in me is grinning widely. :)

Can you post some pictures? I'm interested in seeing how the sizes compare. Also, how many different body setups do you have for your First Responder?

I'd also be interested in seeing some different body options. The first responder looks very cool, but that body looks way longer than necessary for 2 cr123as.

off on vacation...will post some comparison pics when I'm back in a couple weeks. Will give me time to give these puppies a workout as well.

yes the first responder has a dummy battery in it to run the two rechargeables. Or you can run 3 lithium primaries. That is the only body I have for it at this time FYI.

I will try to get some additional pics up shortly however I believe I do not have all of the body options. I think Peak may have designed a few more after I received my version but I am not sure as to that.

In my opinion the 2 cell 123 body is the best and especially if powered with rechargeable Li/Ion 123 cells. In real life usage the 2 cell body I have is very compact and the tail switch is the best feature. It is simple and effective and is momentary push only however can be tightened for full on. I just seem to like the tail switch as it is a solid design and so simple it would be hard to fail in the field.

Peak did speak with me for the first few weeks of testing however they kind of dissappeared on me. I sent a few e-mails giving my input and other results however again just never heard back from them. regardless I still use the light often and it is working well. I have not seen any of the other lights in this thread in person so I can not say how they compare to the Peak. I am also not sure if Peak has had much luck with this design however it is a decent choice for a duty light if you wish to have a luxeon.
