I've owned this L3 for a couple of years now, and compared to other lights that I own, it's output and runtime are beginning to seem a little "dated".

Bearing in mind that it can chew through 3 primaries in under two hours for just over 100 lumens, I'm beginning to think that it's due for some modification.

Any ideas on what emitter/driver combo would best suit me for a reasonable output and runtime? All input appreciated! ;)

There are two routes you can take:

If you're experienced with flashlight electronics and modification thereof, then you're good to go doing it yourself. While I'm no modder myself, I think a Cree LED would be a great choice. Great runtime and brightness, very reliable. You'll have to find your own reflector, as I understand the L3 has a slightly wider bezel.

Your other option is to ask Milkyspit to mod your light, and he'll turn it into a great light. From what I understand it can get expensive, but all of his customers walk away very satisfied.:naughty:

Anyhow good luck, hope you find a good mod!

Well, I've no specific experience of flashlight mods, but I've a fair amount of experience in electronics and general modifications of all kinds.

I think I'm going to have to fire up Google and start researching. I'd love to go down the Milkyspit route, but that's money I can't afford to spend right now.

Let the learning process begin... ;)

Cheers anyway..

Sounds good! If you're familiar with electronics then it shouldn't be too difficult. Cheers and keep us updated!
