I put these in my Ford Ranger truck. I can see some improvement. I had Xtra vision bulbs before, so the step up is not as dramatic from going straight from stock. However, since my vision is not great at night, I'm always looking to improve the headlights and these bulbs are the best I've seen. They are rather pricey at $50 for a pair. These are clear envelope bulbs, not the blue tinted junk.

My question is about the specifications. Philips site has only adnausiam. How is the extra light achieved? At the cost of lifetime?

What year Ranger? Daniel Stern had a very detailed article on how these bulbs produce the extra light...at least I thought it was on the website. I don't see it now, maybe it was sent in e-mail. Bug him and he'll probably send it to you.

Darn, not available in H11 for the 2008 Chevy Silverado!

True, but you can get Osram's more-or-less equivalent NightBreaker H11, or just mod and install a (cheaper and more intense) H9 bulb instead.

But they do have 9003 which fits my car!

Yup, and it's an excellent pick, but Osram's 70/65w item is better.

The Osram 70/65w produces significantly more light than any 60/55w bulb, including the Philips Xtreme Power. But again, the wiring in your Subaru is underfeeding even a 60/55w bulb, so increasing the wattage even just a little bit is not going to get you anywhere useful until you upgrade the wiring and put in relays.
