Pic-New Nitecore Extreme, E1B, Others

Got a couple new lights in last week, so I decided to post a pic of my LED friends:

Left to Right: F04 Diffuser, Arc AAA-P (CS), Fenix P1, Surefire KL4 head on VG, Nitecore Extreme, Surefire Backup, Surefire E2DL Head on VG, Surefire Z2 Combatlight with P60L and Striker Bezel (X2).

Just got Nitecore today--my first. I'm impressed with quality, and interface was quick to learn. For now, strobe is cool! I like the Z2 as modded as a pistol light. I've shot a few low light IDPA matches using them, and I carry one in a Comp-Tac belt carrier when I'm out and about and wearing a "shoot me first" vest....

How does the Nitecore Extreme compare to the SF Back up?

Lane, thanks! I actually have not compared the two yet. Guess what I was going to do in about 5 minutes now that it's dark enough here in Fort Worth! Time to go freak out the neighbors. I don't have a decent camera for beamshots, but there are threads comparing the two. I'll post my general impressions shortly....

Okay, here are my impressions:

In my back yard, about 40 feet from neighbor's 2 story wall, and about 25 feet from my fence:

Nitecore and E1B have almost identical hot spot brightness and size at 25 feet--surefire's lumens are underrated (or nitecore's overrated)!! At the farther wall, the SF hotspot is about the same size, but Nitecore's spreads to maybe 25% wider. The nitecore and E1B's spill is about the same width, but Nitecore's is about 20% brighter IMO. I guess this might mean Nitecore has more total output, slightly. With F04 diffuser used on each, I can't tell a diff in output.

As for low settings-I have Nitecore set to lowest (3 lumens?). It is definitely lower than SF's, which I like.

The SF clicky and UI is optimal for my dual output needs. I found the Nitecore UI easy to master first time out. However, when changing from low to high (by tightening bezel back 1/8 turn), the Nitecore first came on low for about 1/2 second, then hit high. When turned on again, the Max output came up first. I repeated this irregularity several times. I can live with it. Strobe is cool too, but I would find it as disorienting to me in an indoor situation as to the bad guy.

The nitecore clip goes on front jean pocket easily, but takes about 10 lbs. of force to get back off. Not sure how I'll like this on my dockers over time.

I like both, but prefer the SF due to lego-ability (I have an E2DL tailcap on mine), and the simple, reliable dual output UI. Still, the nitecore will be my EDC for awhile.

you can try to lego the SF back up with the NC Extreme and vice versa

Actually Nano I'm about to do a separate post about that--none of my 1 cell SF heads will work on the Extreme body!

Negative. Or at least my extreme came with instructions that say to use one CR123 cell "or 1 cell of same size with similar output" I think it read. I have no idea why the post you referenced shows the Extreme on a two cell body (maybe with spacer?). I would not try it with two cells. Also, I'm not familiar with the E2L head or whether it runs on a one cell body, but I thought I read somewhere the E1B head is unique and not used on any other lights....Jeff.

ETA: just read your referenced post more thoroughly where 4sevens says it is a one cell light only. I think my issues have more to do with threading and making contact though.
