I got this beautiful 1.25D 3x17670 host (red one on the left)

Put in a FM bi-pin holder, 1185 bulb & a DX P7 reflector.

Got three 17670 li-ion ready to go but only one thing is missing:
The host didn't come with a battery holder. The only holder I know of is FM 3x17670 holder which cost $48 & my paypal is out of funds.

What to do?

Enter the KD $2 3xAA holder. I cut it in half, enlarged the space for battery to 17mm, put in 3 steel wire as support. Then I replaced the thin metal pads with copper pad to handle higher current flow anticipated.

The holder looks like s**t, I think I just built the most ugly battery holder of all time! .

It's time for reality check, will it work?
Wola! My Mag Mini 1185 is alive!
I tried out a few reflectors, including Kai Mag reflector, WF-500 reflector & Dx p7 reflector, somehow the DX P7 reflector gave me the most perfect beam.

You are right, Looks like crap. Just screw the tail cap on real tight and no one will ever see. The other end looks great! nice beam.

+1 ..... As long as it works, who cares what it looks like :)

gheTTO!! :D... just kidding .... love the creativity! Thanks for posting this!

I've never seen a 1185 put out such a nice beam. Good work! I would have never thought of using a LED reflector for an incan.

I like the lateral thinking there! Good solution, which obviously works perfectly well.

Was the host already tri-bored when you got it?

Thanks! I stumbled on the combination & just realized this is the best beam of all my flashlights so far, led or incan. it's like staring at the Sun, so round, so even, so bright, no rings, no flaws on a white wall.
