The ROP LE is a hint dimmer than the TK40.

Yup, you heard it right. Brand new 3854-H bulb, LG Chem 2300mAH A2 grade 18650's. And the LED Fenix TK40 is a shade brighter than the ROP.

Didn't think the day would come so fast :D

The ROP however has been a fantastic ride, and it's still my go-to incan. It's nice to have an option of LED or incan in the same power class.

I am fiddling a little with HD video at the moment. Incan still looks a little bit better than the cold white of LED. However the dim-ability of the TK40 and the ease of using plastic diffusers with it (so as not to blind whatever we're pointing it at) give it an advantage as a video light.

It may be brighter, but did it cost less?

The TK40 may have a higher output, but you can't surprise people with it like you can with an ROP:

Oh, its just an "ordinary maglite..."

I think color temperature affects perceived brightness. I thought a couple P7 lights appeared brighter than my ROP high, but I seriously don't think it is just because it looks whiter.
