Looking for an 18650 EDC light that can also be mounted to my .308 Win (7.62x51 NATO) rifle as needed.
==================Flashlight Recommendation Checklist================
1) How would you prefer to purchase the light?
This will be mail-order or Online (location doesn't matter).
2) Budget
Up to $100 preferably, but can go up to $150.
3) Format:
I want a flashlight (hand held/self contained).
4) Size:
4-6 inches - Every day carry.
5) Emitter/Light source:
Neutral White LED - CREE XP-L most preferable
6) Manufacturer:
I want to buy a light from a good quality manufacturer that is ready to go out of the box.
7) What power source do you want to use?
Orbtronic 10A 3500mAh dual-protection 18650 Diameter (mm): 18.6 mm (+/- 0.03) Height (mm): 68.9 mm (+/- 0.03)
8) How much genuine out the front (OTF) light do you want/need?
I want search and rescue type illumination (800+ lumens) preferably without automatic stepdown.
9) Flood vs Throw: Flood covers an area, Throw reaches out to a distance.
Narrow Flood: I want a sharply defined flood area that will project some distance for tasks like trail walking.
Wide Throw: I want a beam with a noticeable hot-center for distance throw and a significant amount of "side-spill". Good for rough trail hiking, search and rescue, and general distance work.
9a) Distance: How far away will you typically need to see with this light (check all that apply)
5 to 100+ yards typically, but up to 200 yards (not a deal breaker) useful in some situations.
10) Runtime: Not over-inflated manufacturer runtime claims, but usable brightness measured from first activation to 50% with new batteries (Measured on maximum continuous output).
As long as possible from a quality 3500mAh battery...
11) Durability/Usage: Generally the old phrase "you get what you pay for" is very accurate for flashlights.
Very Important (Camping, Backpacking, Car Glove-box).
Critical (Police, Fire, Search & Rescue, Caving, Survival).
12) Switch Size, Type, and location (choose all that apply):
I want a tail mounted switch
13) User Interface (UI) and mode selection. Select all that apply.
I want 4 or more non-blinking light levels
I want a strobe mode.
I want a beacon mode. Regular flashes at full and/or reduced power to show location - flash rate somewhere between 2 & 5 seconds per flash preferable
I would like SOS mode. (blinks in . . . - - - . . . emergency pattern - preferably at max power)
14)Material/Finish/Coating
Anodized Aluminum – either type II or III HA
Stainless steel (durable, but much heavier than aluminum)
Color doesn't matter, I will Cerakote the flashlight at some point down the road to match the rifle.
15) Water resistance
IPX7 or better
16) Storage conditions
Daily use stored in house, but may also find itself in a backpack, glove box, or weapon mounted from time to time for up to a week at a time.
17) Special Needs/extras: Is there anything else you want or need that hasn't been mentioned? Select any/all below.
0.80" - 1.00" (20mm - 25.4mm) body diameter for weapon mount.
maximum empty weight 4.25 ounces.
maximum head diameter 40mm
NO PROPRIETARY BATTERY.
