Removing C2 Black Emitter ring

Has anybody done this to gain access to the emitter? I want to install a q3 bin cree when it is available.

If you mean the black plastic cover, then yes. It's just pushed down for centering the led and to protect it. You can make a small hole in it and use a hook to pull it out, or use some really strong tape to pull it out.

That's exactly how I removed the one on my D-Mini...similar setup. I made a small hole using a 3/64" drill bit, and used a small pick to pry it out. When reinstalling the pill into the flashlight, the hole works nice for having a spot to help tighten the pill...using the same pick.

These guys are right on the ball. My friend and fellow CPF member and I just swapped emitters on my C2 last night. I really liked my C2, it had great output with a nice mixture of spot and spill, but it had a terrible purple tint to it. Swapping emitters was very easy....I dropped in a warm-white Q2 bin and now the tint is perfect! No change in overall output, but the light is 10x better now that it has a nice tint.
