Romisen RC-29 & 14500's

I just received a Romisen RC-29 Q5 from Kaidomain. Has anyone successfully used a protected 14500 in their own unmodified RC-29? I know that this flashlight does not officially support 14500's, but I am hoping that it might UNofficially support 14500's. On Kaidomain, there is a member review that suggests that this is possible, but I am looking for additional feedback from brave CPF members.

Is there any news about using 14500 in RC-29?
I have a kaidomain version and just ordered the neutral one from shining beam.

I swapped the driver out for a 7135 2 mode driver. It was very easy to do but will not work with regular AA anymore. You could put an appropriate buck boost driver in so it can use both bat chemistries. Its very bright with 14500.
