With all the various threads about the safety issues with CR123A primaries, I don't recall seeing it mentioned if there was a "safe" voltge differential between a pair of cells.

Is there such a thing as a safe voltage differential?

The reason I ask is I have a pair of CR123A cells in a G2 and the cell closest to the emitter was at 2.65v and the cell at the tailcap was at 2.74v.

It's only a 0.09v difference, but it was enough to make me change the order of the cells so that the 2.74v cell is now closest to the emitter.

EDIT: 0.9v changed to 0.09v - Thanks Dave
