See your emitter in a glass of water.

Probably old news here but....

Just goofing around today with my McGizmo Sundrop 3S whilst on the low mode. I pointed the light beam into a glass of water and found that I could see all of the detail of the 6 die emitter when looking at the reflection on the waters surface - without the excessive glare found when looking directly at the emitter even on the low mode.

Nice to see that much detail without going blind in the process!

I've found that taking a 50mm prime lens opened up (f/1.8) from a SLR will display a nice emitter pointed on a white wall.
Works like an asperic.
Can't take photos as it's washed out, but I can see 4 squares from my LD01's XRE led.
A luxIII only has 1 square.

if your hesitant about water resistance...and its a reflectored light, use a magnifying glass lens, adjust the spacing until you get optimum focus. If the current level is set low enough I can count MCE bond wires on the wall

I thought that this was the goofiest thing I've ever heard. But then I tried it with my Fenix TK40 (Cree MC-E LED) and it works. Pretty cool!
