I'm looking for a vertical (axial) filament 50w 12v bulb for a Lightforce SL140.

Lightforce lists many but not this spec.

I have had vertical filament 50w bulbs, so someone must make them! They give a very tight beam compared to horizontal filament. Yes, I know that the beam can be adjusted, but the above still applies.

Does anyone know of Part No. and supplier details. I'm in UK, but can order worldwide. Thanks

I have some experience on regular automotive H2 bulb, that should suit your needs. It runs at 12 v and it is rated at 55w. The filament is vertical. And in case you want to upgrade your mod there are higher wattage versions too. :D Just google it out, you should find technical specs and sellers easily. I have used Philips H2 bulbs.

The socket of the H2 bulb is far from practical when it comes to flashlight use. I decided to remove it and connected the wires directly to the two pins remaining after the "surgery" operation. Furthermore, there is some variation how centered the filament is in the bulb. Luckily, these bulbs are relatively cheap so I recommend you to buy couple of them and choose the one with the most centered filament.

I don't know exactly what kind of mod you are doing but H2 in a McR45 reflector produces very nice beam... ;)

No idea how to fit it in a Lightforce SL140, but both Philips and Osrams top of the line IRC lamps have axial filaments. As a bonus, they are the most efficiency and long-lived 12 V lamps on the market today.

I should have some 35W and 50W IRC's if you need one or two...

Oh, and as LumenHound ponited out, Philips Capsule and Capsule Pro also have axial filaments, but they are not as efficient as Osram Halostar IRC. They are quite small though.
