I all,
I'd like to find an incan mag mod to do in a small package...
this is what I need into my light:

incan bulb (bright as possible)
max lenght: 1,5D
D / C cell
running on nimh
runtime min: 60 min

I need this light becouse I want to bring that with me when I go out in the evening with my dog or for something else...i found that a mag85 in 3D format is maybe too bright, heavy, big...

what do you think?
a mag 1D fat body may fit my needs?

For a small light, you should consider the ROP LE.

Being the 2c format, it probably isn't much larger than the size you are considering.

Correct me if I am wrong, but a 2C Mag is roughly the same length as a 1.5D. Am I right?

If that is the case, put two AW Li-ion C-cells (+ extender) in the battery tube, a ROP-High bulb, metal reflector and glass window at the front and there you have it! ~700 lumens of rechargable goodness. Need more runtime? No problem! Use the ROP-low bulb.

Although, I must confess that the extender will probably put you into the 2D length category, sorry.

ok you are right on the 2c and I also have one of them (not modded) but I'd like to run my new light on nimh...I have a ton of them but no Li-ion and no charger too:candle:

What NiMHs do you have available? That may be a deciding factor.

Also, what charger do you have? Is it a bay-type charger, where you can charge the cells seperately, or is it a smart-charger that you can charge packs with? If the latter, you might want to get in touch with CPF member LuxLuthor and get a custom pack made.

I have a smart charger for 7-10 cells and a 4 slot charger.
I think I have about 40 AA nimh, 4 AAAnimh, 8D nimh but no LI-ion:ohgeez:
I know that lux make good custom battery pack and I may need one of them...

I selected my favourites 3 set ups:
note (X) mean that I have this part and don't need to buy it.

-MAG 1D fat body with 6AA>1DFAT adapter
-FM MOP 2" reflector (X)
-glass lens (X)
-bi-pin adapter by FM and mag switch with resistance fix (X)
-CL 1057/ ROP HIGH-LOW/ WA1111/ 5761

-MAG 1D quad-bored with FM or modamag 4AA>1D
-FM MOP 2" reflector (X)
-glass lens (X)
-Bi-pin adaper to pr base from FM and switch as before...(X)
-WA1183

-MAG 1,5D tri-bored with 9X2/3A by LUXLUTHOR
-FM MOP 2" reflector (X)
-Glass lens (X)
-Bi-pin adapter + mag Switch (X)
-WA 1331/ WA1185/ CL-809/ WA1306.

PLEASE LE ME KNOW WHICH LIGHT IS THE BEST IN YOUR OPINION !!
THANKS!:D

You said the 1185 was too bright, and you said you wanted at least an hour of run time.

In that case I'd go with a smaller bulb than the big hitting WA/ROP types.

How about this light: http://www.rayovac.com/flashlight/ind2d-b.shtml
- smaller and lighter than a 2D Mag, dimpled reflector, adjustable focus, carabiner clip for neck strap.

Put in 6 NiMH AA cells (with for example KD adapters) and swap the bulb for a Mag 5D or 6D xenon. The 5D xenon is very bright with a nice beam but I can't say how long the bulb life will be. The 6D should last fine since it is running at spec.

This of course is a very inexpensive configuration, and maybe you want to spend lots more money...

These are some good suggestions. I will add another. 6 AA Nimh cells with the Carley h1499p. 2000mAh cells would give you a solid hour. This bulb produces a very nice beam and is a good 'lumen value' IMO.

Where can I buy the Carley h1499p?

The extender is not necessary. You can remove the retainer ring that holds the switch assembly in place, then slide the switch assembly "up" more to create more room in the battery compartment. Then, cut down the spring and smash it down so it doesn't put as much force on the battery.

Another cool mod if you go for ROP with cammed reflector is to grind the cam down with a dremel so that it doesn't de-focus too far (ie, pulling the bulb completely out of the reflector, and creating a "donut hole" effect). My ROP is set up this way, a stock-looking 2C mag, which has cam focusing strictly between a SEAMLESS flood light, and a tight spot. Very lightweight, and about 40mins runtime.

This doesn't help the OP though because:

1) The ROP I described uses LiIon
2) The particular LiIon batteries (AW C) used, are out of stock

Litho123 is running another group buy here, but seems to have already closed it for pre-orders. You ought to be able to snag some by asking on B/S/T. There are bi-pin and potted versions out there, and you want the halogen version if you can get them because without the halogen gas the glass envelope will become blackened with tungsten over time.

ok guys I have decided!

I'll take a MAG1,5D from JESUS Hernandez a 9X2/3A from LUXLUTHOR and I think I'll use a WA1331 or sometimes WA1306...

thanks for your soggestion! they are very good but I really don't like Li-ion...
