Sorry, this has been sold.

Up for sale is The Little Green Giant:

  • 6AL4V Titanium
  • AW 14500 protected Lithium Ion battery
  • GD500 driver
  • Trimmed McR-20
  • XPG R4 LED on 2mm thick MCPCB
  • Double-sided Anti-Reflection coated Sapphire lens
  • McClicky switch with black rubber boot
  • O-ring sealed, but not guaranteed waterproof
  • Anodized Grooves and Dimples
  • Weight: 3.5 ounces/99 grams; Length: 96mm; Diameter: 24mm
Some updated pics, after some more work on the body:

Original anodizing on the head/body:

After re-anodizing the grooves in the head:

A bit better color, I think than the original pale green.

And now the nit-picky items: Note that the green anodizing on the head is slightly paler than the green on the grooves in the battery tube. Plus, the light engine is not screwed into the head--it is firmly held in place by an O-ring, however, and will not fall out when you change the battery.

The good news is that it's really a nice light--not overly bright, but should have decent runtime at 500mA, and it won't overheat. ;)

Price: $750, delivered world-wide via Express Mail. Insurance, or other special shipping options, would be extra.

Some people collect Monet and Van Gogh, we collect much nicer pieces of art...

Thanks, but GryphonQ is waiting for me to complete a design for him, and he doesn't like green.

Otherwise, I might have offered it to him.

Re: FS: The Little Green Giant

Hmm, I must say, that's not a bad green. Maybe we can proceed with plan A. We can talk whenever you're ready! (About that other project...) RG

Re: FS: The Little Green Giant

Thanks Troy, and wow Fred that is one spectacular light you have produced there. I have been checking out your lights for some time now.
I have been waiting to see if one light might come along or would need to just have one custom designed and built from scratch. Since I am such a perfectionist, I may have an issue with the small imperfections and the difference in the pale green color variations between head and body. I would also have a problem with the LE not being screwed into the head. But, other than those things, I really really like the design of the light and would for sure want to talk to you about producing another one with all of those details resolved. Fred, I will send you a PM regarding possibilities with this design on a new light. I really like your work and would welcome a custom light of yours in my collection.

Thanks,

JM

Re: FS: The Little Green Giant

Fred, you take custom-machined flashlights to a whole 'nother level. Those deep, tightly-spaced cuts are something to behold. You should see if there's a way to integrate something like that into one of your production designs, perhaps as a heatsink for a high-powered emitter, like maybe an MC-E or an XP-G. :naughty:

Re: FS: The Little Green Giant

This light has an XPG in it. But it isn't driven to high levels due to the fact that the body is Ti, a poor conductor of heat. There is a fairly good sized AL LE in the light that can handle the heat produced.

Re: FS: The Little Green Giant

Magnificent as always!

Re: FS: The Little Green Giant

This is the first I got to see this one Fred...it's really quite the looker..and I am serious about that!
