This weekend, I realized I was down to my last #36 drill bit (Tap drill for 6-32 for those who don't know), so I decide to look on ebay

I found ONE vendor selling #36 bits - from his store, at like $2.95 each for a HSS Screw Machine bit of 'unknown brand' - he has 34 of them, and a make offer - I go to try and offer $.60 each for them - the system won't even take under $1

They cost $1 from MSC in single quantity (made in USA), or as little as 72 cents for TTC brand at Travers (buy a dozen, get 10% off) (87 cents at Enco for made in USA, $1.27 for PTD)

Sometimes sellers are just a bit optimistic. Fortunately, sellers are also sometimes a bit pessimistic. Thank goodness.

Damn. Posted on another ebay thread. Required disclaimer:
They pay me to work, not to think. I do NOT speak for ebay in any way. All opinions are my own, for better or worse. If captured, ebay will disavow any knowledge of my mission.....

Yup, many sellers on Ebay are too optimistic, and don't even bother to search first to see what items like theirs sold already, or are for sale at the time. Just doing this research prior to their sale would mean a better chance for the item to sell.

Still, Craig's list is even worst in terms of optimistic sellers. Folks there are WAY, WAY, WAY optimistic on their pricing. Not even close to what the price should be. Their item is setup for sale, week after week, same price, and then they wonder why it is not selling ... :ohgeez:

Craig's list is even worse ...
+1

One seller has a Cinci horizontal mill listed for $2500 ... they sometimes bring $100-$200 at auction. Another has a Warner & Swasey turret lathe, at least 80 years old, listed for $3000. A year ago, at auction, one went for $300 with at least a ton of tooling:D
