Herb,
Warm thoughts and a prayer for your son from me and my family. The body is a pretty miraculous thing. I've had my share of hospital run-ins. Good thoughts, some patience, and a skilled doc - he'll heal up with a story to share. Just stay away from the porcupine meatballs and custard.
Tell him he needs to work on his timing though - school ended last week!
All the best to you as well
Steve

LOL!
I suspect that all hospital dietitians train under retired Savak agents.
They can be especially cruel.
They know you've spent a week with a naso-gastro tube up your nose and down your throat.
They know you haven't had anything to eat or drink either.
So how do they break, ah, ween you? a cup of bovril, green jello, runny custard, and ice chips.
Three days of this and they know you'll eat the potatoes! Heck, one more serving of custard and I'd have confessed to helping oswald.

On one stay I had a great nurse who would sneak me midnight snacks of popcorn and white bread turkey sandwiches - mostly mayo with one slice turkey, but oh so delicious. I eat those things with great satisfaction to this day. Anyway, with that treatment I gained hope for the future and soon recovered.
