After reading Don's post about the SPY007 knob pocket it made me want to try something. I split a glass bead and sanded the back flat and dropped it in the pocket with a bit of rubber cement. I'm not really happy with the color, but you get the idea. Maybe a dark blue or black would work better. Please excuse my poor photo skills.

I do believe that is a Shelf that the SPY 007 is living on? :tsk::duck::laughing:

Love the last pic. Looks like some kind of futuristic alien titanium city.

As much as I like the innovations on the recess of the knob,
I prefer it as it is. I find the pattern in the Ti left from the machining
very appealing.

Just a few shots under different light conditions. I've shot these last "flashlight porn" pics before starting really using (and sooner or later scratching) my SPY :twothumbs:p

Hi guys,

I really like the SPY007 and I keep it on my kitchen table where I can grab it for use or just to fiddle with. I grabbed it the other night on the way out into the back yard to do some critter watching and had a LunaSol already clipped to my waist ( I live in swimming shorts over here that don't have any pockets).

There are a pair of anoles I like to check up on and find where they have elected to sleep for the evening. Kind of like an easter egg hunt. :)

Well I found the male with the SPY on a medium setting and I decided to get in close but wanted to switch over to the LunaSol flood. I wanted to clip the SPY007 to my waist but no go.

The reason for my little story is that I really like the SPY and plan to use it but I need a clip!!

It was a bit intimidating drilling and tapping the tail cap but the reward was worth the risk and since this light is a user for me, I knew I could live with any mistake or mishap that might have resulted. As it was, I was successful in mounting a clip and I couldn't be happier with the results. The SPY rides very well, low and secure on my waist now. It still tail stands securely but at about 30 degrees off vertical.

I look forward to the rail mount options and particularly a 1/4x20 mount as I know this light will see action in my shop and I already have a Noga holder waiting to host it.

I figure some of you guys are going for fancy holsters for your SPY's and in a way me adding a clip is not much different in terms of need and function.

Don, very cool idea and the McGizmo  ....... Ti McSpyClip :D looks nice but the leaning deal I would work on. :nana: I love my 007 in an AOTH horizontil holester because the switch is exposed with a hole light to shine through and I can use the lights hands free but the O-rings need to be removed because they make the exposed switch too easy to accidently turn on the light. ;)

Me

While that pocket clip interferes with tail standing, it does make it so that if you can manage to convince Data to make you another tail cap, you can swap between them. ;)

Me? I'm not a pocket clipping kind of guy. This light is just too heavy to clip to my shorts with confidence. I'll be using an AOTH Holester.

I'm interested in how the Mini Picatinny Clip will work. It could be mounted holizontally, so that you could clip it to your belt or pants, with the light aiming straight ahead.

Hey Don, that does look nice on there, cool mod! I guess you did not load it too much so you would still get the battery cap on and off easily. :tinfoil:

I envisioned a clip that functions as Don's design but it would attach to the generic rail block.

Cheers

Hi Dave,
There isn't a whole lot of loading but with the rocker in the tip of the clip and where its contact point is, the cap is already well "on track" and about seated when the clip makes initial contact. It worked out quite well as it turned out.

Of course had you designed something like this clip into the light, there would have been a "T"slot in the cap to receive the clip tail and a ball detent securing it in place and allowing for quick install and removal of the clip. :D

I haven't gotten tired of admiring the SPY007 for its design and form. Who would buy a painting to hang on a wall when they could handle functional art like this instead?!?!

I'm sure they LOVE the time of night when crazy-flashlight-guy comes stomping around the backyard turning night into day, after they'd just gone to bed. :p

But seriously, great looking mod!
