I'm looking for a light! I currently have a black 2xAA incand. Minimag, a 3W Rayovac Vatio (~80 lumens), but I'm looking for one more semi-EDC light.

Looking for:
Runs on 1 or 2 AA (don't want to have to have special battery charger).
Prefer high output (>150 lumens if possible).
Not too many modes (prefer a low, med, high... although if there is great light but it has SOS/strobe, that's OK)
Price is around $50

So far, I've mostly looked at the Fenix LD20, which may be my top pick. However, Nitecore has nice lights too... and if you have anything else, let me know (including pro's, con's, and reason's to get it)! :twothumbs

EagleTac. Two modes, general and turbo - about 50 and 175 lumens (measured out the front, advertised as 60 and 220). A well-built light, I own the 2xAA version and like it quite a lot. The brightest 2xaa light by about 20% (not very noticeable in real life). However, keep in mind that you might want to wait to get the latest, improved version. Just throwing that out there as an option, but I would also highly recommend a Fenix 1x or 2xAA. Very good reputation, build quality and versatility of modes. Good luck whatever you choose.

Also, :welcome:

I have an Olight T25-tactical which I like a lot. Very bright, to me the UI is great and it remembers the last mode used when turned off.

Low, Med, High, strobe, sos. Just slightly turn the head and back.. I can do it with one hand easily.

Fenix LD10/LD20 should fit the bill for you - and you have the option of just getting the other size battery tube to be able to run it un either 1xAA or 2xAA.

Of course, there are lots of other choices, as mentioned above. The detailed 1xAA and 2xAA round-up comparison reviews in my signature line may help you decide.

You did a great job with your study and I used it to pick up the Nitecore Infinity to replace my power hungry Streamlight Scorpion.

One key point was the requirement for a "tactical" switch. In fact I fail to understand why this switch is not the rule. It is so much more convenient.

Get the Fenix LD20 or L2DQ5, unless you want to pay a little extra for one of these:

It has a forward clickie and has last mode memorization. It has a clip also.

I have a couple of L2D's myself but the Olight Tactical lights look like nice lights. I'm not sure they are worth the extra money, to me.

Much love for the time and energy it took you to create your "round-ups" for the greater good of CPF'ers worldwide.

Boo

You can't go wrong with the Fenix, but also look at the new EagleTac P100A2 in this CPF thread if you think you might want 2xAA.
Thanks for the support everyone - glad you are enjoying the round-up reviews. FYI, I have the P100A2 on order (just got the shipping notice), and will add it to my 2xAA round-up. But it will likely be a couple of weeks before I get it (ground shipping from Atlanta takes awhile to get here ...).

selfbuilt: i join the chorus of "awesome reviews"

also any hope getting the ledlensers/coast lights to reviews?

i have been waiting awhile for either you or mev (light-reviewscom) getting them to torture test :)

-and a friend is looking for a kiss simple aa light that could run forever in 30lumens or so. with moonmode too. any ideas?

The Fenix Lights have interchangeable bodies, or simple 2 mode(L1/2T V2.0).

The Nitecores, iTP, and Jetbeam IBS's are more customizable.

The Eagletac are simpler and feel better in the hand.

The Olight might be in between Fenix and Eagletac. Larger in size but also multimode.

The Lumapoer is lower in price and from what I remember it is also smaller.

ITP C7T for 1 cell (1 x AA or 1 x 14500)
Perfect light for me.
HIGH Output with 14500, easy brightness setting from 6 to 190 lúmens.
Forward clickie. Robust.

Fenix TK20 for 2 cells (1 x AA only)
The best 2 x AA light in my opinion.

Regards.
