I just got a 10x Dominator and the guy I got it from said that the battery was shot because he didn't use it for a couple of years. Went I got it home, I plugged the charger in and tried to charge it. No lights turned on. Then I tried to move and shake things around a bit and in one position the charger will charge the light. I have to leave it just a certain way on its side for it it charge. The battery seems good, at least lasted long enough to look at two houses that are on the market in my area. It seems that there is a loose contact inside. Would this be repairable under the Surefire warranty because the battery lasted about 15 to 20 minutes on high?

Regarding the charging problem:

UPDATE!!!: Encountered problems with charging the Dominator 10x...

I recently went to charge up the Surefire Dominator 10x after using it to illuminate some of the "wildlife" in the neighborhood while out walking. When I returned home I placed the light on the charger as indicated in the instructions and oddly enough the red LED that indicates charging flickered a bit..........

Yes, a contact issue would be warrant-able.

This part is normal. The run-time you're experiencing is par for the course.

Sorry, I think that I made a mistake by stating the fact that I got ONLY 20 minutes of runtime. I know that that is normal for the light. I just wanted to make it clear that the battery itself is in good condition, but just will not charge due to the contact problem. I just didn't know if SureFire would warranty it since they only they state that the warranty rechargeable batteries for 1 year from receipt.

Other than the contact problem, the light is very nice. Much lighter than my MagCharger and also a little brighter.

It sounds to me that a contact fault within the light is the failure and not the battery itself, therefor you wouldn't have to worry about the 1 year battery warranty. Knowing how well Surefire treats it's customers, even if it's not as quickly as we'd sometimes like, I'm sure that they'll treat you like royalty whatever the problem turns out to be. :)

Congrats on a great light acquisition.
