beam compared to a simple streamlight propolymer 4aa luxeon.

i have one of the streamlights, rated at i think 42lumens and all i want is a light a little brighter than this but smaller, tougher, and longer lasting. the e2l is all this with about 9 hours runtime full power/ 45 lumens, tough as nails and small.

would the e2l cree be that bit stronger i need since it rates its lumens coming out of the glass rather than emitter?

Oh yea get the E2L! :D Way way way way way better light. It's putting out about 53/55 lumens for me. Small, tough, crazy runtime, HAIII is outstanding, great clip, and you can't buy a better warranty. Of course you should look at the newest L1 while you're in the market for a SF.

i just bought my e1l tonight and it is by far the nicest beam on a flashlight i have ever seen. it is definitely putting out more lumens than it advertises. i would assume the e2l is the same beam with a few more lumens and one more cell. i would say go for it. you wont regret it.

i'd agree what others say above. i find it surprisingly bright given its very excellent burntime. this combination of output+burntime is a real winner in my book.

if my specimen is typical of others E2L Cree's, just be aware that it is NOT the whitest of beams (*NOT* a criticism, just an observation). the beam is on the warm side (many prefer slightly warm to give it a very slight incandescent hue to the beam color). me, my preference leans toward a pure white beam, so cooler than the E2L Cree, but having said that, i don't find the E2L Cree's beam color objectionable at all - i really like it.

"utilitarian" - IMO, that's an excellent description of this fine light. good description there, 270W.

Surefire claims 45 lumens for 14 hours. Pretty darn good. I've praised this light previously. I like mine as a solid go to long burner. Extended runtime with good brightness, nice beam. Winner.

IIRC, ChevroFreak posted a 9+ hour regulated time with the remainder of the published time being somewhat useful decreasing output (40% at just under 10h, IIRC).

Thanks. Good to know real world numbers. That Chevrofreak knows all.

Still think the E2L is a good balance of brightness and runtime.

thanks for the replies, but i am most curious as to how this e2L compares to the streamlight propolymer luxeon beam in brightness and throw.

that is my baseline comparison.

how about a comparision of the e2l beam to a fenix l2d-ce q5 on high or turbo

anyone have some info on that?

My gen. 4 (?) KL1 heads with the Lux III/optic draws 880 mA from one cell or 440 mA from two. Has the circuit also been improved along with the Cree LED to provide such long RT?

Any suggestions for the easiest way to upgrade my two KL1 heads? I can handle PCB soldering, but the heads seem pretty tight. Does SF accept old heads for upgrading?

Thanks.

man, no beam/brightness comparisons of an e2l cree to a p2d-ce q5 or a streamlight 4aa or 3c luxeon pro polymer?

i go cry now

sniff

These are beamshots of E2L compared to SL luxeon 4AA, the lux readings were E2L: 2380, luxeon 4AA: 2850, and I think E2L is brighter (total output) than 4AA

I don't have P2DQ5, but I had comparisons of E2L to P1DCE (P4) in this thread http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=169212

hope these helpful.

chao thanks a lot that is perfect!!!!!

it seems a tad brighter with slightly brighter spill, just right.

now to decide between the e2l and the special edition lumahunter m1 q5.

decisions decisions
