had my kl4 about 2 years. the beam was yellow and not very bright. everyone on cpf seemed to brag on their kl4, but i had no other kl4 to compare it to. was going to sell it on the forum, but that did not seem fair as i was unhappy with the beam myself. called s/f and returned the light. in about two weeks i received the light back. they must have fed it steroids! the beam is absolutely white without any rings at all. it actually out throws my s/f g2l and blows my streamlight 4aa led out of the water. pretty well lights up the back yard. this light went from my least liked to my favorite. my wife opened the box, tried it and almost wouldn't give it back. they put a new head and sw on it. don't know the lumens, but it is brighter than my l2.

Yea, the emitter in your first KL4 was definitely not hitting on all cylinders. The new description is about where a KL4 should be.
They've also gotten brighter over the years. Maybe it's the average bin creeping up but my first L4 was bright but not wowsers. The latest one I have is brighter than some of the very, very bright units from just 2 years ago. I'd pick up another except that this one is bright enough and gets just too damned hot for extended use.
