Ok, ive been out of the loop on purchasing LED torches from Surefire for a long while. Ive mainly owned Surefire Incans.

I was just wondering if anyone would be able to tell me which Surefire LED's would be compatible with a single RCR123 or RCR123 X 2 format.

The last i heard (a long while back) was that the L5 was the only Surefire LED that would accomodate 2 X RCR's. But now with the new L1 running off a cree and the 6PL and G2L running newer LED's, I might want to break back into the more simple running (as opposed to fenix-jetbeam etc multiple mode and stage lights) Surefires.

Alot op people i buy from would prefer a simple function and proven quality over ultimate brightness... but theyd have to be able to run rechargeables.

Also too as a second part... how does the new L1 compare against older formats like the L5... figures show 65 Lumens max for L1 and 100+ Lumens for the L5 (which ive played with and love)

So any figures somoeone could give me for the rechargeable LED Surefire aspect would be great. And if you wanna throw in your $.002 over the new L1 etc format vs L5 thatd be great too

Thanks all...

Dano,

Can't give you a lot of advice on the lights you've quoted but I can tell you that the new P60L LED module will allow you to use 2 RC123's without any issues. Of course the run time is less but the guilt free factor is for a lot of folks the icing on the cake.

I've had an L5 before and now upgrqaded to an L6 Milky spotting a SSC. What I liked with the L5 is the beam pattern. Very bright center spot with an even spill. I have no idea about the new L1 cree but what I have read is that its performance belies its price. If one compares L1 cree to the L5, its plain obvious that the L1 gives more for less money and the only disadvantage is less output. But you still get a smaller package, single cell with dual output. Even if the L1 uses primaries, with its dual stage using primaries is still economically viable since one does not use high most of the time, right?!
