How do you folks "mark" or "tag" your multiple same
lights to quickly identify them?

Have (3) SF M6's set-up different for different purposes.
(1) HOLA, (1) LOLA, and (1) X-LOLA.

Many times I'm grabbing the light in a hurry and need to
identify one from the other, making sure when needing
the M6 HOLA, the M6 HOLA is what is taken.

Until figuring out the perfect method/idea, I use a less than
permanent system. HOLA = 2 rubber bands, LOLA = 1 rubber
band, X-LOLA = no rubber bands.

Ideas for a permanent fix.
- Painted rings on the bezel. Red HOLA, black LOLA, and etc.
- Silver metallic marker write 600, 400, or 200 on the bezels.
- Silver metallic marker write H, M, or L on the bezels.

What do you folks do? What would you suggest? Any and all
suggestiomns would be appreciated.

Thanks and Happy Torching!

Hey seery,

Isn't the MN15 LA glass envelope alot smaller than the MN20 and MN21 glass envelopes? I don't have an M6 but I do have a turbohead running a MN60 and that lamp is a lot bigger than the MN15.

Just a thought.

Kelmo, good point and yes the MN15 is smaller than the MN21 and easy to
tell apart. It's the MN15 and MN20 which are much more difficult to distinguish
in a hurry

Try different colored O-rings in the heads grooves or rubberbands as the M6 is on the large side. Even bright string or paracord might work

EDIT: silly me I didnt read the whole post

Are all your bezels the same shape? If not maybe you could use different bezel shapes to distinguish the "smaller" lamps?

With three different serial numbers it should not be too hard to use the lowest # for the lower output lamp, and highest # for the brightest lamp.

OR you could put the X-LOLA in a flat bezel M6, MN20 in a scalloped bezel M6, and the MN21 in Strike bezel M6. OR you can put differnt beam filters on ones than are on others.

Build a shelf unit with 3 levels on it and keep the highest output LA on the top shelf, the lowest output on the bottom shelf, and the mid output one on the middle shelf.

I wish I had 3 M6's to play with.:awman:

3 $400 flashlights??? DAYUM, I wish I had that kind of money to play with!

HOLA, LOLA, X-LOLA???

Go to Home Depot and buy 3 different colors of electrical tape. It works really well for other applications.

Serial #'s, electrical tape, colored o-rings, colored lanyards, and more.
Lots of great ideas, much appreciated.

I've had all the different bezel configurations in the past, which would
make that a great option except the current three are all the CB variety.

Label maker...hmmm...I like that!

A 3-tier shelf, Dizzy that's simple yet genius.

Give me one and you'll increase your chances from 33.3% to 50% :D j/k

I'd go with lanyards too, or put different colored glowstickies/glowrings on each.

Get different colored lanywards for each one.

+1 to that. I did this with my HD45's. My 5W's have red/black lanyards and my 3W has a yellow/black lanyard. :)

Ooohh...I like that. Tritium or glow thingies with green for X-LOLA, yellow for LOLA, and red for HOLA!

What about small colored stickers that are circle shaped? They come in many different colors and are about .25" in diameter. Red could be the brightest (hola), blue for the second brightest (lola) and green for the longest running (x-lola). You could stick one on the end of each switch or on the M6 label on one of the flat sides. It would be non permanent and with the circles in bright colors would be easy to grab quickly without much thought.

I'd use coloured stickers. I do the same to my SB800 wireless speedlites(flash), then I know which is which when I used them together. The stickers with different colours works best I reckon.
