Surefire Question

I have a Surefire P2X Fury. Great light. I do, however, have a question about the tail cap switch.

Generally, you insert a battery/ies, screw the tail cap down all the way, and you can then click the light on and off, or use "marginal" pressure to have momentary on/off.

The only way to keep the light constant on this unit is to tighten down the tail cap all the way. In other words, the tail cap switch does not "click" for "On/Off" function like normal lights generally do. There is no audible "click" sound.

If I loosen the tail cap slightly, I can then have "momentary" on/off but nothing more. I have never experienced anything like this on any other quality flashlight. Any thoughts?

I have an older 6px that uses a twist tailcap for example. Modern versions have clicky ones. I love the fury, one of my all time favorite lights. Also runs on 16650 without problems. If you have a few of them you'll also notice that some models will have springs on both contacts, while earlier ones do not. Still looking for a Fury tactical (what you have probably) and p2xz for the collection. But I aint payin what people ask.

yup thats the tacticool. Its supposed to have twist. But I looked at the site fixer linked and they say Defender also has twist. Mine dont. So I guess they changed to clicky later in production.

Nah, I think in the US the prices are better. But over here payin 100€ for a used light from 2011 is a little silly since I only want it for the collection. Id pay maybe 70 if its like new. Fenixshop has new old stock p2xz for 170€. no thanks.

The light itself is good, it can be made dual-mode if unscrew the head and restore the cut track. But then it will be necessary to replace the tailcap with a clickable one for convenience, there are ready-made kits for this. But I don't know if it's interesting to you or not.

If there is a ready made kit to make this a "Clicky" on/off then yes, I'm interested. Then if I ever sell it I can include both tail caps. Can you point me in the right direction?

There are many ways, you can disassemble this lid and put new guts there, which you can take in these places or in other (this is what came out first in the search, if you look further, you can find something else)

I don't recall the Fury has a twisty tailcap as standard. But even if that's the case, it's probably not being favored by many users and that the tailcap concerned will probably go through the McClicky upgrade route (I do this with my Z41 hosts most of the time). But not many users have the proper skills to disassemble a twisty tailcap and thus they look into alternative clicky tailcap options, which may actually be not as durable as McClickky-converted one. However, once such disassembly skills have been perfected, there's simply no turning back.
