Hi there! I'm new to CPF but am a fairly big surefire fan. Does anyone have any idea when the aluminum version of the surefire titan is going to come out and for how much $ ? I know this has probably been asked but there doesn't seem to be a straight answer yet--probably 'cause no one knows:thinking:?

Thanks

Hi Nirvanaxp and :welcome:

There's been a lot of discussions on Al Titan but no conclusion yet. There was even a thread about guessing the price....:grin2:

It is likely that we will not see it before the end of the year and the price should be in the region of $250. All this is speculation.

Wouldn't expect 'em 'til 2009; being the skeptic that i am.

( go ahead, SureFire -- prove me wrong ) :)

But that doesn't stop us from playing: "Try to Guess the Price".

My guess is somewhere between $$$ and $$$$$.

Too bad that i am :broke:

Well, thats not too encouraging. Is it possible that they are improving the internals over the titanium version? It seems weird to me that they can't just produce the original titan insides with an aluminum shell. Then again, I have no idea what goes into producing a complicated flashlight like that.

You see, the 1000 pieces of the original Titan have been put together by hand with a somewhat painful process that took months. The problem that Surefire are facing for the new aluminum non-limited series is to cross the line between hand made and industrially made.

BTW I am the proud owner of Titan #0328 and I was born on March 28....

You will find a lot of interesting information also concerning the new type in this thread:

Making a Al Titan would probably take from the integrity and exclusiveness of the Ti, therefore decreasing it's value. I bet they won't even make one... my $0.02

If you're right, I suppose they'll need to take it out of their 2008 catalogue.

The official designation for this light is T1A, but there is no price or ETA given for it yet.

OpticsHQ are making a list here, and MattK of Battery Junction gives more details below.

My apologies, Matt - I stand corrected on that, and thanks for the additional info. I've edited my post.
