According to my 2004 SureFire catalogue, the U2 is 6.13" long, and 1.47" wide at the bezel, and weighs 5.7oz, though I do not know if this weight is full or empty. Catalogue does not say.
This is heavier than the L4, but lighter than the L5.
 
Today I have go to the shop of SureFire Distributor in here http://www.supremeco.com.hk.
And i have ask them when will be the U2 avaible. The sales there tell me it will be avaible after the summer of this year???!! I am shocked with his answer. I cant wait for this great flashlight with so long time. Now I hope his answer would be wrong.
Anyone will know the date of it release?

The time frame i have been told is "2-3 months" from a dealer. I think this is for both the U2 and L2.
 
I find the best way to approach new products from SureFire is to give somebody like Dan your creditcard and tell him to send you one as soon as he gets it. And then live your life in the meanwhile and don't worry about it.

I saw PK's light that he was carrying, I do know that I want one of these. In a bad way. I can't wait for these to become available. I better sell a few things to get one.
 
I want one but the thing that holds me back is the sie of the bezel. The L4 is almost at my limits of what i would carry in my pockets, at least the bezel of the L4 is sticking out of my pocket and not buldging IN my pocket.

I've never held an L5, and by the comparitive picture above, the bezel size of the L5 and U2 look similar. How do these lights feel in the pocket? They're not going to be the E2 or L4's in comfort for sure, but is it manageable as an EDC? Or will i not be comfortable with this one riding in my pockets everyday?

The L5 is NOT a pocket light in my opinion. They are HUGE in the pocket. I do like the larger bodies for their ability to take 18650 size Li-Ions. That alone to me somewhat makes up for the size as I can run the light for well over an hour "guilt-free"

I'm with CM--the L5 is not a pocket light.

If you go to my page and scroll until you see the last three pictures, you'll see the L5 and L4 side-by-side, along with the different bezel sizes.

In addition, Sean's site has some great photographs of the L4, L5, and L6.

Having said that, I'm planning to carry my U2 in my jacket /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
Nice pics Prolepsis! I see you only purchase top of the line stuff. That must be nice.
 
Will the production version have a grip ring for using the Surefire/Rogers technique with a firearm?
 
That I'm aware of, the production version looks like the one in the 2004 catalog page 35. No CombatGrip ring. It can be held in a combat-style-grip though. Not sure how well it works "for real" though.

Sovereign I'd also be interested (and prefer)in a combat grip style on the u2. Or maybe even a U2z variant /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif?

I don't know the practicality or implementation issues but I would also like an aviator style dual output switch on the u2 where the second pressure is always the maximum output, and the lighter pressure is what you currently have the u2 dialled in for (i.e. anything between 2 - 100 lumens). This would be to allow instant one hand operation with a dual output capability... Just acouple of thoughts of mine... What do others think?

For those of you (Al /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif ? ) that might have seen a U2, how does the 'throw' of the highest output of the u2 rate compared to say the g2z (p60 / p61) in your opinion?
