I currently have a surefire Z3 which eats cr123a's way too fast. I dont know if its the Florida sun and heat, or the amount of abuse it takes being on my duty belt (LEO).. but they dont last more than a few weeks, being used for no more than a couple of minutes a week.

A possibility is my Z3 using two 17500's, and a lighthound cree drop in LED.

Thoughts on this combination? Will the slightly fatter 17500 require boring of the z3's body?

I was also looking at AI strobe tailcaps, but none really seem to be as user friendly as strobing functions on the night-ops gladius and insight lights.

I have a Lumens Factory HO-9 in it at the moment, but I had the Lighthound Cree 3.7-9V in it last week.

With the Cree, I haven't done any runtime test with 2x17500 but based on my test with a single 17670 at 1800mah I would expect the 2x17500 at 1100mah each to give about 2 hrs of regulated time plus 40 to 50 min of declining brightness.
