I have a customer who just replaced their garage fixtures with T-8 fixtures with electronic ballasts and is complaining of static on all radio stations and television stations in said garage. Other than a grounding issue what could be the other issues here?

Thanks!

its the ballast. there are ballasts that have rf suppression built in. I forget the exact designation, might be "for residential use" noted on the ballast. It wont be noted on the fixtures box. Go to a electrical supply house and tell them the problem, they should give you a correct replacement.

Yep it's the ballast. It's the same effect that magnetic ballasts have in large factories that had the humm, but new age electronic ballasts are above audible and cause static. Good residential rated RF suppressed ballasts are great.

If you can't find a 'residential RF' ballast as suggest, just be sure to get a good high THD rating. residential rated T8 ballasts are typically a higher THD rated ballast than standard 10-20%. Just be sure to get the highest rated you can.
