Does anybody know if Tactical HID lights could be used underwater? The 35W model is 4300K, 70-110 min running time and 2800-3400 lm- sounds like the perfect dive light if it's waterproof.

has anyone done a review of the HID Dive Light - 35 Watt HID - 3200 lumens - RL-12 ??

.

read up on the following thread to see what happens to the bodies of the light in underwater use.... and you'll see why the above mentioned HID light is expensive

.

C'mon, bxstylez, that light is 15 year old- a completely different manufacturing era. I use an anodized aluminum body light, LED though, for snorkeling/diving without any galvanizing/electrolysis issues. I don't think that the problem described in that thread is inherent to metal body HID lights. Dive lights do need however better build quality and will always be more expensive. I am aware of that.
I appreciate everybody's input.

I'm not sure if I would say that they need to be "better quality" but at the very least built to a different standard or rating for their intended purpose.

Apparently, HID tactical 35W is waterproof to IPX3 as per the manufacturer. Not suitable for underwater use.
