Well I bought this little torch on an impulse from my local gas station simply for the fact that the little square die in that reflector looked sorry, and I was sure it would fit a P7 without and drilling.
(I guess my local Gas station stocks there store from costco?)

A Dremel to file down the star on the P7 and it didn't take me long to fit in right in there.

I made a shim/Dummy cell to hold a Li-ion 16340/CR123 battery instead of 3 AAA's and this thing runs a p7 not to its full rated 900lm, but it is much much brighter than the original led ever was!

I'm just waiting for a real clicky switch from DX to eliminate the battery vampire the switch on this light is, and I should have a decent light, and a simple weekend project.

Should have got some before as well as after pics, but I'm sure I'm not the only one to think of doing this...

...I hope!

Cool mod! I have a couple of these from costco. They are decent, and would be a nice light if it weren't for the battery drain. How much brighter do you think it got overall?

I would say it is twice as bright with the p7 as it was before.

also the reflector doesn't have as many artifacts with this larger led.
I don't have another one to get an original beam shot but i will put up a few pics later on the new beam shots with the p7.

the focus is still useless though.

....wanna mod mine??? lol

(I have two - since they came in a two pack) Still debating taking them back. I don't have a large die emitter to swap into it - wish I did though!

LedSanders,
How do you get the head apart on this light? I can get it off the barrel and see the back of the led board but the heat sink does not fit past the back of the head which is apparently pressed in or something. The board just looks pressed in and I'm sure I could just pry it out but that's not what I'm after. A little help please. Thanks!
