well, here is my try on it...

But soem help is required in determining the resistor value and voltage under load that will indicate a
good enough" battery

I run some tests with batteries in various state of charge, and used 2.2, 5.9 nad 8.8 power resistors (the white ceramic type)

Results....

Samples 2&3 came form the some batch and were standing for some years in a 3-cell light.
By them i got an indication that 2.5V and above on a 5.9Ohm resistor will show an adequate battery.

Also the full battery reading show that the battery can keep its voltage over 2.5V on a 2.2Ohm resistor.

Any other suggestions on voltage threshold?

I see...
So basically one aims to test on the fast drop section of the chart. (close to the y axis)

So I will have to repat my test measuring Amp draw to find the proper resistor.

thanks HKJ, you are always helpful
