Anyone see a problem with this picture?

 :ohgeez:

You've gotta laugh though....

This is as old as the internet itself...but I still can't stop laughing every time I see it.

Is it just me or is the magazine upside down as well as backwards?

I don't get it :candle:

I've viewed this thread 8 times and I still don't get it...I read through every detail in the article:sigh:

Also, doesn't look like her finger along side of the trigger guard, if that's the trigger guard.

Bill

Her finger placement is ok, it's just that the magazine is backwards and as CM mentioned, it does appear to be upside down because the the bottom of the magazine shape is slightly stepped and appears to be the feed lips...lol. The upside down appearance could be the tree's reflection on the back glass but it's funny even if it's only backwards.

Upon second thought, it won't go in upside down because of the extended magazine floor.

The upside-down/backward magazine is probably strapped to another magazine that has already been correctly inserted into the rifle. The purpose is to keep a spare mag as handy as possible. When the first mag goes empty, you simply flip the whole shebang over and you have a fresh mag ready to charge the rifle.

lol, i was hoping it would be something more substantial...

I'm surprised the design actually allows it to fit...its like inserting a floppy upside down:candle:

I was thinking that too, but in the picture it really looks like the magazine is lined up with the mag well. I cant see two magazines there. I need a clearer picture.

I check that newspaper Archive's and it only goes back to 2007, and nothing in Oct of 2007, so must be 2006 or earlier. I made comment about finger alone side of trigger guard because it seems unusually long and her index finger knuckle does not seem extended, so her index finger is maybe on the trigger. Possibly picture was taken by press and doctored so it would appear she was not at the ready to shoot. In process they got the magazine wrong. Just thinking out load, so to speak. I say this because picture does not look right. That magazine does not appear to be attached to another magazine, and does look to be inserted, though not in proper method, of course. UPSIDE DOWM!!! Many of our shooting CPF'ers just do not see this as a bona fide picture.

Harder to tell about the magazine, but her finger certainly looks photoshop-tastic.

Tempest

To me, nothing looks photshoped. I had to go look for myself and I took a few pictures to duplicate what was in the newspaper photo.

First pic is to show how the finger can be placed high and appear to stretch over the lower receiver a long way. This rifle has and extended web grip which places the hand and finger more rearward and improves trigger feel and pull. The stock M16 grip is very shallow and allows a lot of finger wrap. It also allows the finger to protrude even further along the lower receiver as seen in the newspaper photo.

This photo is to show that properly stacked magazines still follow the same curve, so it's not a matter of "banana clipped" magazines.

This photo is to illustrate a retarded stacked magazine set-up (completely incorrect btw) to demonstrate that this also isn't what's seen in the newspaper photo.

This last photo shows that this is the closest to what's being seen in the newspaper photo. The magazine is simply backwards. The plastic magazine just barely squeezes into the bottom of the receiver when pressed hard. I'm not sure if an aluminum magazine would wedge itself the same way and not fall out under gravity but I wasn't about to jam metal to metal in my AR. :eek:oo: It looks like it would work though size the aluminum mags have a little more play.

I have long skinny fingers, and when I hold an AR my hand looks about the same as that lady in the picture.

Wohoo, Chicks and guns! C'mon Olympics 2012!

Just Imagine this in the background.

"Well Bob, it appears shes loaded the clip backwards"

"Why would she do that Steve?"

"Well its clearly an artistic choice, believe it or not the backwards clip insertion technique takes a great deal of skill, finesse, and professionalism."

"Professionalism?"

"Let me tell you Bob, by loading the clip backwards the user is showing that they have already consciously decided that they are not going to fire the weapon and have decided to go for points with a faster yet subtlety incorrect loading of the firearm, clearly the choice of a professional. A novice would have simply passed this technique over. I'd say this deserves a solid nine-o"

"At least that Steve; at least that"

"And now to the judges...."

"Nine-O! Eight-Five.. and... a Nine-point-Five! UNBELIEVABLE! She did it Bob; she really pulled it off!"
