After you get Casino'd out check out Red Rock Canyon (rock climbing, bouldering, hiking, or scrambling), Mount Charleston (ski), the Valley of Fire (try to figure out who or what is moving those boulders), drive the ET highway to Rachel Nevada (spend the night with the conspiracy theorists and watch for what comes out of area 51), check out the many ghoust towns at night with your flashlights!, and of course on Highway 95 you can visit some very adult venues if you know what I mean.

If you leave for the back country bare in mind it is very cold this time of year.

Good luck!!!

Thanks to everyone for the great suggestions!!

My girlfriend and I got back Sunday afternoon after a seven hour airplane delay. It seems we decided to fly back to Toronto through a snow storm.

Vegas was awesome! We stayed at Planet Hollywood for the first two nights and Monte Carlo the last two nights. We ended up going to see Jubilee at Ballys one night and simply kept to the strip and gambled for the rest of the nights (I was up $300!).

During one of the days we hit up the 'Premium Outlet Mall' (at the GFs insistence) and 'the Gun Store' (at my insistence). I got to shoot off a few rounds so I was happy :twothumbs.

This is the view of the strip from Planet Hollywood:

And this is me at the gun store (10 points if you can figure out my EDC:nana:):

Three greatest experiences in Vegas for me:

1. Stratosphere rides...at night
2. CDS Ka
3. This...Who would have guessed that there would be a roller derby convention in town when I was there? And yes, I had quite a bit of fun with the roller girls.

The knife is either an el-cheapo, or a custom piece. (Or a CRK&T model). Cause I don't recognize the clip.

I'm bringing this thread back to life to express just how much help CPF is for finding all kinds of crazy information. My wife and I will be heading to Vegas in June so that I can be a groomsman in a friend's wedding. He's Air Force and was stationed there for a year and half and found his future wife. :) I've never really "gotten out" of the small-to-medium sized town that I live in (Panama City, Florida) except for a 3-day NYC trip in high school so I have to admit to being a little dazzled by the prospect of Vegas. When my wife and I were trying to puzzle through activities for while we were in town, I remembered looking through this thread when it was fresh and did a search for it.

Thanks very much for the helpful information! Our friend isn't much help since he's kind of reclusive and didn't wander into town often.

When I went just after Christmas, I had little money to gamble. Fortunately that was not my intent. Anyhow, I really enjoyed how LITTLE money you can really spend there and have a great time. We got into town around 8AM and got a rental car. It was not until ~5PM we actually sat at a table at Golden Gate Casino and dropped a couple bucks. So essentially, from 9AM to 5PM, we simply walked back and forth on the strip and saw sights. Went through damn near every casino along the main road. Just a simple walk through to see how its design was and what not. I enjoyed that so much. It is ridiculous how much money is spent on these places, and how well the up keep was on them too. I have every intention on going there again some day, both to walk around more, but also gamble a bit more. Also got to get more geocaches from the area. Had so little time I could only get the virtual near the Bellagio.

Great place, whatever some people may say...

I might be there in mid-April for a trade show. I wouldn't mind seeing Red Rock Canyon again. That was so serene, especially compared to the zaninesshappening only a short drive away.

I should add that if you are looking for a place to eat, you MUST hit up the 'Burger Bistro' in Mandalay Bay. Hands down the best burger I've ever had.

Its a Novatac 120P actually :)

Depth-perception can really mess you up. The top of your 120P looks flat. But now that I know what it is, I can actually make out the round form.

Thanks for coming back to clear up the mystery.
