All-

Im Looking for the best sub $50 light/bulb/battery combo from DX for a spotlight/throw monster combo with a premium on throw and not spill.

It seems like alot of you guys/gals reccomend the WF-500/ AW batts/ Lumens Factory 630lm Bulb combo which looks pretty good.

It seems like most of the SSC lights listed(at least on papper) offer alot of light for under $50 but I cant imagine that the posted numbers are too accurate.

What say you?

Important: Bright, tight beam with tons of throw around $50
Not So important: Battery life/efficiency, spill

I recommend just getting the Stanley 5W LED rechargeable spotlight $40 from Walmart. That is a proven budget throw champion. It is very compact, has long runtime, variable brightness and a range of easily 300 yards. Just a suggestion to consider. You can read through this thread to see pictures, beamshots and information about this light such as its lux: LINK

Il have to check that out BlueBeam; might be a nice truck light if for nothing else but would still like to hear some other suggestions on more "transport-able: torches.

Are you looking for something that you will be able to carry in your pocket? The Stanley LED spotlight is actually very small and measures less then 5'' across. It is by no means pocketable, but neither will other large tubular style thrower lights be. I'm just trying to get a feel for what you are looking for as there are other smaller budget throwers I could recommend, and I hope you are able to get the perfect light for your needs. :)

Not neccesarilly looking for something "pocketable" but a little bit bigger in size than my SF M3-CB with more lumens and more throw. Something between my M3 and my (2) D Cell maglite would be ideal.

Ive already got an E2D, G2 and as earlier stated, the M3 but dont have anything in the inventory that I can really light up the night with.

well, i got this light from DX a while back, it's a real thrower but durability wise, i wouldnt want to drop this light. It's probably all glued together cos i couldnt get anything open except the tailcap to put in cells but its a real thrower with a very tight focused hotspot.

If i could, i'd take it apart and get someone to chuck in an R2 for me but i have to say, with its large head (52 - 53mm diameter) its not very pocketable.

I'd try out that light in post #2 if you want a budget thrower.

You should definitely consider the Dorcy 220 lumen rechargeable LED flashlight $40 from Amazon.com then, as it meets your criteria for size. It has a range of at least 300 yards and equals the Stanley LED spotlight in throw. There is a thread about it with some really good beamshots on pages 3 and 4: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=207254

There is also a review on this light: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=217871

Ill definetly consider both flashlights you suggested BlueBeam, thank you.

Does anybody have any input or opinion on the numerous SSC P7 lights from DX that claim to put out "900 lumens"?

I know theyre probably not even close to that but wondering if there is a good quality throw monster in the batch somewhere?

The SSC P7 isnt much of a thrower, some MC-E lights have decent throw. For the price range your looking in Id think about the MG RX1 MC-E from Shining Beam, it has good throw for a MC-E.

For $35 you can get the HS-802 from dx which is the best thrower I've got. Ultra tight beam with very little divergence, beats my aspherics and my rechargable spotlight. It's got excellent heatsinking which I know will allow continuous running direct drive as I've bypassed the driver but I can still switch back. I do like the brightness at 1.6 amps to the R2 led. Though if $50 is your absolute limit including batteries and charger you'll be hard pressed to find decent 18650 cells and a charger, but if you said $60 then you'll be able to get this throw monster of a light with batteries and a charger.

$26.94

I have this light and it is an extreme thrower. No spill at all. Finish is excellent. All my buds marvel over it every time I get it out. Runs on 123's or 18650.

$8.81

Here is the charger I use. No complaints about it. Charges a number of different size batteries.

$8.18

Here are the 18650 protected batts that I use again no problems.

$4.49

The 16340 batt I use, and again no problems. Does the trick.

That brings us up to $48.42.
Now just through in an extra few bucks and get ya another light. Maybe a little single 16340 light or maybe even a nice wf-502b to compare the throw of the q5 to the r2.

As for p7 I have a mte. $30.50

My light is great and puts out a huge wall of light. Way more then my buds ultrafire brand p7.
