While doing some shallow swimming pool diving with a tk20, I got some sea water in the head.

I was only able to open up the head a few weeks later, and there was lots of corrosion.

Is it possible to get a new reflector? Or recoat?

Diff,

Contact Fenix about a replacement reflector. I've never seen a resurfaced reflector and I'm not certain of how it could be done.

There have been numerous threads covering "sputtering" of SMO reflectors to remove rings and beam irregularities but I don't think that would be useful in this case.

Good luck.

I've never worked up the nerve to dunk any of my lights underwater and leave them there, though they're supposed to be IPX 8 water resistant. How deep was "shallow"? Were you waving it around in the water too?

I will email fenix and see what they say.

I was down about 3 meters. For maybe 5 minutes total.

But IPX8 is for static pressure I think, nothing to do with dunking and swimming. The battery tube and clicky were bone dry though. I am not happy with the sealing at the lens, as you can see in my pic it's a pretty thin almost invisible o ring.

I have a feeling they will tell you to send the light in for a customer pay repair. I could be wrong though. Keep us posted.

Keep us posted.

+1

If you decide to recoat it (have no idea how exactly), it will have considerably less throw, but it'll work nicely again, I assume.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but instead of opening a new one, I wanted to ask a similar question (well, somehow similar):
My brother managed to open the sealed part of the TA21's head. He originally tried to remove the battery tube after seeing a pic of it at fenixlight.com. He unscrewed it, screwed it back on and it worked. Unfortunately, he decided to unscrew it a second time, but after screwing it back on it didn't work. Something is broken.
Can anyone please help me? Any advice?

Fenix told me to contact a retailer, so I have now contracted 4sevens, since my purchase what from them.

I have also contacted Ledil to see if I can get some TIR lenses that might just fit in to the head of the tk20. That will be fun, I am thinking of spacer Ideas in case the TIR lenses will be a tad small.

"Fenix does not supply us (retailer) with any spare parts on this light. You will
need to go back to the dealer that you bought this light from for any
warranty work to be done"

Outa luck.
