I need a diameter measurement of either Ultrafire or Trustfire protected RCR123's / 16340's. I need a more exact measurement, so anyone with digital calipers please chime in!

I have a couple of UltraFire 16340's. With the digital caliper set at 16.70 mm you can turn around the cell. Minimum reading 16.50 mm. :)

the gray ones a slightly thicker and longer then the blue unprotected 16340

i dont have digital calipers to measure it though, sorry!

just a note, i havnt yet found a use for the Gray ones, they just dont fit anywhere.

Awaiting the arrival of Spartanian II which will be able to accept them I use them in my Lumapower LM33 with excellent results. The extra length is not a problem there.

oh thats right! i forgot that they will fit the Spartanian II. Good thing i didnt try to rip off the circuit from both of them.

btw, NEVER try to rip the circuit off a battery. mine started smoking, i threw it really far away.........

Better to buy AW cells. I used to have two pairs of ultrafire protected cells, purchased seperately. Two of them stopping working in a month or two and the other two were made longer and will not fit my P2D. Their sizes and quality varies from time to time.

I would stay away from them and buy AW cells for consistance.

Sounds good, thanks Kilovolt. I think I'm going with AW cells, you get what you pay for.

Regarding dimensions, Raymond has taken measurements of several brands and posted them in his R123 comparison thread.

Raymond said:
Dimensions of the cells (L*W in mm):
Batterystation: 34.4*16.7
DX11670 (white TF):35.9*16.7
DX8683 (grey TF):35.8*16.6
DX3273(ultrafire):35.8*16.8
KAI4512:34.5*16.5
AW:34.3*16.6

AW, Batterystation and the KD cells seem to be the closest to CR123A primary size.
