I got a used VEC192 off Amazon and the beam looks very unfocused compared to the ones I've seen in video reviews. I'm kind of disappointed because it makes lighting up things far away more difficult. It honestly looks just about as focused as the Wicked Lasers Torch. Is there any way I can fix this problem? I'm really pissed off about this, and I'm a noob when it comes to spotlights and stuff.

Welcome to CPF capsaicin!

Sorry to hear about that, I think since it has two small reflectors it doesn't give the throw of a light with one large reflector, but you may have a very poorly focused one. I have a dual beam spotlight similar to yours and it doesn't throw nearly as far as my lights with one bulb and one large reflector.

If you want to get a light with laser like throw then I recommend the Professional's Favorite 17.5 million candlepower from Advance Auto Parts for $40. I have one and it illuminates objects nearly a mile away. Its beam is like a narrow white light pencil. When I shine it on the ceiling it looks many times brighter than my dual beam spotlight because of its super bright hotspot. http://www.professionalsfavorite.com/professionalsfavorite/candlespotlight.asp

Chances are, the bulb(s) may need to be back a little further out of the reflector. You can simply take the bulbs out, install a temporary cardboard spacer ring into the reflector bore, re-insert the bulb and check whether or not the focus is better. You can easily run the lamp for a couple of minutes with the cardboard shim. After that, I'd let it cool down before running it again. When you find the combo that works, make yourself a permanent shim out of shim stock or other material that will take the heat. In my shimming experience, .025 - .030 makes quite a bit of difference.

Fine tuning the bulb position in those split reflectored vectors does help, but to be realistic about it I have to tell you that even the best focused twin will fall well short to a single, uniformly shaped parabolic reflector. The twin arrangement helps them to produce more light output in that size, but not the same throw.

Ive had no probs with my VEC192, (the stock Halogen or HID). The hotspot is brilliant, not to focused, not to unfocused. Just the right amount of CP & lumens.

BVH, did you get a lux reading of you 150w? Curious about its candle power. Must be like 10 gillizion :naughty:

Flash, I don't have a Luxmeter. However, in comparison with my BB in a 350 Yard test, the Vector lights up trees much brighter than the BB. But it should with double the output.

yer both my VT lamps lit are far more noticeable then just 1.

BVH I hope you include your VT150 at the next shootout, if there is one. :twothumbs

Another possibilty, perhaps a remote one, is that if you bought it used, it might not have the right bulbs....... I think they are supposed to be H 7s.
