After modding my Romisen RC-G2 with the RV7 board (from DX) and an SW0 SSC, I have been finally struck with mod fever.

My current plans:

1. Romisen RC-F4 (2xCR123) + own board (?) + Cree Q5
2. Romisen RC-G2 (1xAA) + RV7 board + Cree R2 (?)
3. Romisen RC-N3 (1xCR123) + BB Nexgen 1000 + Cree R2

For #1, I am not sure whether to keep its own board, or choose another to use for 6V in, ~1000mA out. This'll probably be the first completed project, since already have the LED, and the light should get to me in a couple of days.

For #2, I am not sure whether it's worth sacrificing an R2 emitter for a 1xAA light, but the low Vf of the R2 bin beckons me to try to get 150 + emitter lumens from 1xAA.

For #3, I am simply hoping that all the components get to me unharmed, and the RC-N3 isn't glued together. This is my most awaited project, due to the fact that it may give me >200 out-the-front lumens from a single CR123 (or am I being too hopeful?)

I plan to use my homemade thermal epoxy to ensure that all the components are firmly in place (once everything tests out) and I think these should be rather robust lights, once everything is completed.

I am looking for answers to my questions, as well as any comments or guidance that the much more experienced CPF community can provide.

Well, I'm a noob, so don't have any answers to your questions, I'm afraid. I'll be eager to hear about the results of your effort to mod the light, though. The RC-N3 is going to be my next DX purchase, after my SAIK RC-A3 arrives. I'm hoping, from what I've read on other threads that it will give me 80-90 lumens out the front, in its stock config., which should be adequate for me. If not that bright, then I may just have to take up modding, and follow in your footsteps. 200 lumens is probably overkill for me, but a cheap, rugged, quality light of that output is something you can't pass up.

My RC-G2 and RC-F4 mods have been completed, and they turned out VERY well.

The RC-N3 mod is scheduled for this weekend, and for this one, I'll probably photograph the entire thing.

Have you completed the mod already? I got a RC-N3 this week, and maybe I want to mod it too.
