Hi all, I am looking to get a new light after carrying my Fenix PD30 for roughly 8 years.

After looking at offerings from all the manufacturers, I am having a hard time finding something that fits what I am looking for, mainly in the size I'm hoping to find. Thought maybe the community could recommend something that checks all of these boxes:

  • Under 5" long, under 1" diameter (body and barrel). The Fenix PD30 is 4.7"L and .85"D which is the ideal size to me. The closest to that size would be great.
  • Rechargeable via light body (do not want to take the battery out to charge)
  • Tail switch for temporary on and normal On/Off
  • Side switch for mode cycling
  • Low, medium, high, strobe modes
  • "Last mode" memory from On/Off/On
  • Decent lumen output (800+ for highest mode)
  • Good battery life

That's about it. If you can think of anything, I'd appreciate your input. Thanks!!

Considering that you were happy with the PD30 why don't you look at the PD32 2016 edition?
900 lumens, led XP-L HI
"129.5mm length x 22.6mm body diameter x 24mm head diameter"
Or if you want something newer and more powerful look at the Fenix PD36R but it is slightly larger.
136 x 26.4 x 25.4 mm (1600 lumens)

Thanks for the input!

After some research and mental compromising, I landed on the Fenix E30R. I think the rechargeable feature via magnetic body port won me over. The size and performance are great too. I will miss the tail switch, but you can't have it all as I've learned :)

Yes, magnetic charging is a great convenience, I appreciated it very much on my Armytek Wizard headlamps.
An option similar to the E30R could be the LD30.
LD30 is slightly longer and has classic rear ignition with the button.
It does not have magnetic charging but sold with a battery that has an integrated Micro_USB port.
