i think i have all the parts on the way for a 3d dd p7 build, or at least they're in the works. but to save on shipping im trying to buy for my next 3 builds. these will be my first mags i've modified myself into custom leds (incan's are easy and dont count imo). soo... what can be built from a 4d mag and a 6d mag. i know the 6d will need some kind of circuit, what do you guys recomend. i'd love a few simple modes while i'm at it. how about that 4d. if i use a higher vf i'm thinking i can direct drive. you guys got any advice?

all the above Q are answered in the three previous thread's asking for info:poke:
NO matter how many times you ask, often the answer does not change:sigh: you just have to think for yourself or buy one pre-made ,it does not matter if it's 2d,3d,4d,5d,6d,7d or a cheap knock-off or DD or use one of the 5 or so driver options out there at the moment.
i can only hope you work out how to build a P7 mag for 25 dollars when DO could you post the details and we can all save some cash

i dont want to turn this thread into me ripping you apart for being rude, so expect a pm. it just so happens i HAVE been asking around about p7s because i am planning my first build project. actually one thread is about buying a 6d knock off from dx and using a wf500 drop in and the other is one in which i inquire about where to find specific parts(still unanswered). my goal in this particular thread is to brainstorm a 4d or 6d mag build, so i can buy all the parts at once and save on shipping by just ordering once. in another thread someone did give me a suggestion on my 6d build of putting a wooden block between 3 of the cells but dare i say that is not the direction i've chosen to go and am coming here for some advice on what to do with my 4d's i just picked up from lowes and if i should go custom for my 6d mag. if anyone has anything constructive to add to my project feel free.

Hi,
i'm not being rude, all the info to build any config of maglite, is there in the many post of you last 3 threads DD you have been told how to do this and regulated options also, for many of the driver there is a prefered battery voltage for max efficenancy this can be found using the search button to recall 4 or 5 thread's on this,
After my 33 mag builds using P7's DD and regulated i can say i know just a little more than you so swallow your pride and read and learn a little

your's with kind regards DocD

Judging from this and your other posts, you aim to keep the costs down, a 3 cell nimh direct driven P7 is your cheapest option, whether it's a straight 3d or 2d modded for 3 c's. I've built several lights with the combo p7/ heat sink available from members on this site. The other lights you mention help runtime, at the cost of size, weight and a driver. My opinion on longer runtime is get another set of batteries and go with the smaller light. Good luck, and don't skimp on the heat sink.

tim, thanks for the advice. i plan on ordering 2 p7 heatsink sets for $40 from cpfmarketplace. i guess i really just need to build this 3d dd p7 and stop planning build two and three until its done. then i'll have a better understanding from there and will be better suited to incorporate drivers and resistors and stuff.
