When I picked up my Native a few weeks ago at Wally World the knife guy indicated that they were about to overhaul their knife selection. Thankfully they still had a Native in stock but they were running down their inventory significantly.

Stopped in today and they sure enough no longer had the display case with knives, and only had blister packed knives from Gerber (including multi tools), Winchester, Leatherman (knives and multi tools) and a few Buck's. I'm not sure if that is nationwide, or if that will be expanded, but it looks like no more Spyderco, Kershaw, CRKT, etc... :shakehead

So if you've thought about picking one up it looks like you'd better do so sooner rather than later...

Neither of the Walmarts close to my house have ever had them that I've seen, and I tend to look at the knife (and flashlight of course) area at least once or twice a month.

My local walmart had a bunch of knives including the usualy CRKT, Gerber, Buck, Kershaw (no assisted models though) and the Spyderco Native...but the native they had was a 440C version...So I never bought it, not that anythgin is wrong with that knife, but if I had a native I would want the S30V version, worth the extra $ to me...and of course when I ask about thgins like that I get a stupid look, lol...I will be like oh, I see you have the spyderco native, is that the S30V model? And I get a blank stare...lol, "what" is the response 100% of the time I ask...lol...So I have to repate myself and explian to the person selling the knives that the knife come sin different blade types...and after a 5 minute conversation where I am informing the person who is suppose to inform me, lol, they always do the same thing...they check the box (it takes them like 7 minutes to find the right one by the way) and most of the time I think they are just BS'ing me cause they will say like oh, I think thats the S30V one you want...and I ask to see the knife so I cna just solve the problem and read the blade...but at this point I already know just by the price its not what I am lookign for...lol, what a hassle...Its just one of those things, I was pretty sure I knew what it was, but I just asked out of curiosity and its a whole big thing, lol, next time when I get that blank stare I will just walk away, lol...

Anyway, I have not been tom walmart in about a month! yeah I know, how coudl that be, lol...well my walmart is an hour out from the house, and I have everythgin I need by me...but I think I will make a trip there soon to check out whats going on with the knife stuff...But that stinks, I know alot of people who are happy with their walmart native...and you see alot of people suggest it to noobs...and now they might not be able to get one there...

Yep I've been completely satisfied with my WM Native - interestingly it is an S30V version - don't know if that is a mistake or not but I'm not complaining.

Got the last one among the WM's in the county. Found one counter guy (on the phone) who actually seemed to know what was going on. He felt that WM was going with the less expensive knives like the Winchester, etc.

Looks like my Wally World went to all blister packs, with a much smaller selection......No more Spyderco

That stinks...Hey, maybe they will start sellign some of the byrd models then? I know a few of them come in blister packs now! I wouldn't mind picking up a cara cara next time I go to walmart...:twothumbs

Lighthound still has two versions of the Native in stock: the C41PBK S30V and the Native III VG-10. Prices seem to be even cheaper than in China*Mart.

I have a Native that I bought in 1999, and have never carried it or used it.

How do you Native users feel about them?

I like mine, however, I have so many other customs that the Native just stayed home.

How do they compare to the Delica models?

Best,

RL

I just bought a native at my local walmart, they still had plenty of knives (and guns). I think a lot of the walmarts are no longer carrying guns, so I guess i'm stilll in the right part of the country ;)

WM lady says only "super WM's" now carry long guns. I don't recall them ever carrying handguns.

Walmart in California lost it's ability to sell firearms a couple of years ago. Seem too many employees were not doing the proper paperwork, or doing the paperwork properly. That gave the State a reason to shut down sales.

You think they would have known better. In this State they are always looking for ways to prevent firearms sales.
