I just got 8 trustfire batteries. 6 16340 880mA 3.6V Li-ion and 2 TR 18650 2500mAh 3.7V.

I thought the 3.6V substitute for my cr123's. They are a touch long. The 18650 won't even fit in the flashlight I have. Where did I mess up?:thinking: Besides ordering from Extreme Deal. Any suggestions?

BTW 2 of the 5 capsule lighters didn't work either.:rolleyes:

16340 indicates 16mm diameter 34mm length
18650 = 18mm diameter 65mm length.

Obviously 18mm won't go in a hole made for 16mm.
Lots of recent lights are made so they can fit the smaller 16340s (2 cells)
or 1 x 18650 cell. the 16340s may be a little lose or they'll provide a sleeve to stop them rattling.
The light will also require electronics designed to cope with double the volts when 2 cells are used as2 cells in series (end to end) doubles the volts.

There are CR123s and RCR123s. The R indicates rechargeable. CR123s are not rechargeable , referred to as primaries.Most rechargeable have a small protection circuit on the end, so the cells are a little longer.

And on it goes. You should do a bit of research if you are going to use rechargeable LIONs , there is some danger if you just "plug and play".
There's all the info you need in these forums.

Thanks for the info. I guess I did plunge headlong into the unknown abyss without correct understanding. Oh well, I say, stupid hurts, as it should.

Its no fun if you don't end up with parts you don't need. :)

Now you have an excuse to buy a light that uses those 18650 cells. :welcome:

Don't be downhearted.

It's just that Ulrtafire/Trustfire mount a proctection circuit on full-size 16340 cells, making them oversize.

CPF member AW sells cells, over in the Marketplace, that outperform these that are NOT oversize. Do yourself a favour.

As for your existing cells, don't fret. You'll soon have torches to put them in, I guarantee it. And 18650 cells - some 2xCR123 torches will take them, some will not. It varies. Again, you'll find a use for all your cells pretty soon...
