Ive just received my EZCR2w but having only 5 disposable cr2 cells i was wondering which brand/s people on here consider best quality and perhaps more importantly best value for money for cr2 cells?

Holiday suggestion: buy RCR2s. Much better for the environment, although each charge lasts less than a non-rechargeable CR2. Much cheaper too. It can take both 3.0v and 3.7v RCR2 batteries. AW sells them as well as other places such as DX and Lighthound.

Well i did think about getting some rcr2's but i cant find AW's or protected versions anwhere, i didnt want to risk 3.7v either as nitecore specifically says not to use more then 3.0v, i can get 3.0v ultrafire LiFepo4 ones but im not sure if its worth risking damaging the light..

Nitecore doesn't recommend 3.7v rcr; that's true--but my experience has been that they work just fine. That is the case for other flashlights, e.g. the Fenix lod or ld01 AAA that also work on 10440s. You shouldn't use the li-ion on highest for long periods of time in that flashlight. Companies need to cover their legal butts.
However, see this thread by Selfbuilt:

particularly posts #19 and 20.

You can also get rcr2 3.0v batteries, from DX. It is also true that there are no protected rcr2 batteries at this time. So, just like with the 10440 batteries, which only come unprotected, you have to charge them well before they run as low as 2.7 volts. I've had no problems with that so far, but I've been careful to recharge every 3 -5 days, which is more than adequate the way I use my flashlight.
