What battery holder do you use to charge a few AAs or AAAs etc.. with the Triton Charger. Yes, I have done a search but could not come up with anything for use with charger. I have seen a thread on making battery clamp. That is good for one battery but difficult to clamp a few batteries in series. Any suggestion?

Use PVC pipe to hold more than a few cells.

I have two made up. One for four AA cells and the other for eight AA cells. I went a step further and drilled a bunch of small holes to aid cooling.

How do you secure the batteries in the pipe so that it have nice contact end to end? I have a cheap battery holder - 6AA. I attempted to charge the batteries in it. Triton for some reason raised the Voltage to 15V during the charging process. After a few minutes, I saw the PVC melt at the spring contact. I am not sure why, but I guess it is due to resistance?

I use a clamp similiar to the one pictured in other threads but use the PVC pipe to hold/align the cells while clamping.

I've heated the spring on a AAA holder doing four cells at .1C(forming) and have no idea why that happened "that" time because I've used that holder before!

Same here, very low charge rate sucked a spring down flat and others also say the same thing. Mine were Radio Shack which, according to some on CPF, are the best holders available - and that's not saying much.

I first bought a few clamps from West Mountain Radio but they were way too stiff and would only hold a single small cell. I used the self sticking copper connnections/wires on two Sears adjustable wood clamps. They'll hold two AA cells. Later I got a clamp that will hold at least eight AA's. I got a piece of copper gutter on-line, fashioned the contacts and soldered the wires, etc.

IMHO cy's battery clamp is simply the best solution for a simple pack charger. It's versatile, easy to mod, and cheap. Take a look --> here

Now if you want to get super fancy. JimH and several others got their Universal Battery Charging/Testing Station. Be prepare to spend some serious amount amount of $$$ for those cool equipments.

Haha, some of the setup is amazing and make me laugh. I laugh because I want one :grin2:. I sense some chargerholism here.
