What AAA light competes with the Fenix E01? Im looking at getting a bunch as gifts but want to know if there is any other AAA lights that are as durable, long run time and, inexpensive. So what light out there competes with the E01 at the same price point? Or is the E01 the the top of the line for under $15 AAA lights? Just want look at all my options before I get the E01 for friends and family.

I don't know of anything that competes direclty on all three of your points. The ITP EOS A3 comes close with low mode runtime and price, but its probably not as durable as an E01.

For $20 you could get the ITP A3 EOS Upgraded Edition - has 3 output levels, super tiny, on a AAA battery (alkaline, lithium, NiMh, and even a rechargeable Li-ion 10440.) I used to edc a fenix LD01 until I found this thing. Check it out - ClickHere

Nextorch K1 is the same sort of light as the Fenix. Not enough people have them to say how tough they are but I've seena a couple of happy owners. They sell them at goinggear.

You could also upgrade slightly and get the Fenix E05 at $20 each, although I would personally prefer the ITP A3 at that price.

For $10 more you could get the Maratac AAA Stainless. It does 80 lumens on high, much smaller, much nicer looking stainless steel (my opinion), and most importantly for me it has a pocket clip. Also you can get it in regular or polished finish:

While it is not as durable, does not have as long of runtime, and does cost a bit more...
I would NEVER trade my Fenix E05 for the E01.
While only 1 mode, I find it almost perfect most of the time. And a simple single mode light is often better as a gift.
Nice floody output. Nice brightness and tint (I prefer the R2 version).
Costs a bit more, but it is a MUCH more useful light!

No one considered a Gerber Tempo? Efficiency sucks because they draw around 150ma, nearly twice of the Peak matterhorn, etc, and not as cheap as the E01. Not much of a competitor but its in the same category:)

Nextorch K1 a far nicer light and the EO5 simply brilliant but nothing really competes on a bomb proof EO1 for the cost,I own all 3 plus the gerber another member mentioned.

As a gift because of its winning looks i would go the K1
